In this short reflection story I will be reflecting on a story I wrote about called What You Don’t know by Lulu Wang. I will be taking some information that I wrote about from this story and I’m going to put some information in this reflection blog. I’m also going to be explaining how I feel about this story of What You Don’t Know. If you would like more information about this story please visit my blog post and the title is called What You Don’t Know by Lulu Wang. This story is about Lulu Wang (granddaughter), Nainai (grandmother) and family. Lulu grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and she was giving three months to live. Nainai is from China and some of Nainai relatives live in America and Japan. A few things happened within their family and how they responded was different from how my culture would have responded. NaiNai sister got the results of Nainai physical which diagnosed her with stage four cancer. So that’s how some of the family members knew about Nainai’s secret. The doctor told Nainai sister, which Lulu call her little Nainai, that she should get Nainai hospitalized. Little Nainai said her sister was too old and then she would have to tell her the bad news about her health. Little Nainai said she didn’t want her sister to know the bad news about her health because she would get depressed and won’t eat. Lulu mother told Lulu about her grandmother and explained that it wasn’t “permitted” for her to tell her grandmother about her health. Lulu was stunn. So the family is just telling NaiNai lies about her health. They want Nainai to be happy and not depressed. They did have big gathering for Nainai by having a early wedding so that everybody can spend time with her. No one said anything about Nainai’s secret.
In this story it turned out good for their family because their family accepted the lie to protect their love one. So that their love one didn’t have to go through a depression and stop eating because of hearing the bad news. That was their tradition and culture. For my culture or for me to feel good about myself I would have to tell my love one the truth. I would tell them the truth because first of all I was taught growing up tell the truth, get punished or you will feel guilty. Something as serious as of someone life, like I mentioned before I like to feel good about myself and I will want someone to tell me the truth about my condition. So telling my love one the truth about their condition for me would be the right thing to do. I wouldn’t feel guilty and it would relieve some worry. As for my love one I know they can get a chance to gather they self and say and do they last goodby’s. I believe everyone should know their condition of their because they also needs their prayers and whatever their heart desire. It’s their life they, they should no. That’s why I know it’s the right decision if it was up to me to chose to tell someone about their unhealthy condition.

In this short reflection story I will be reflecting on a documentary film I watched with my class called Where to Invade Next by Michael Moore. This film was about how Michael Moore went to different countries interviewing how other people lived. Of course it was much different from the way we live in America. Different countries lived better than we do in America. I’m going to speak about different ways they live and how I feel about the way they live differently than America. I have a link on my blog of Where to Invade Next if you would like to hear more about this film.
When Michael Moore interviewed Italy about their employment, they said that Italy get eight weeks of vacation. I was very jealous because here in America we is lucky to have a week vacation. Also if the employee in Italy don’t use their full eight weeks of vacation it goes toward the following year vacation. Another good situation Michael Moore was told while he was interviewing in Italy is that when you have a baby you get five months of maternity leave. We don’t have that in America. Parents ( some of my friends) stay home only for two months with their baby and then have to go back to work to get caught up with bills. Last and finale situation in Italy that I’m going to speak about within this reflection story is that Michael Moore was told that when you get married in Italy you get fifteen days of celebration. Wow I was happy to get a week off. Yes it is a big difference in Italy than America on how they live so much better. Michael Moore interviewed France next. Once he reached France he went to a three or four star kitchen that was in a school cafeteria. The French love cheese Michael Moore was told and have a lot of it in school. Michael Moore was also told that in school lunch time is a full hour which was considered class time. I know when I was younger and went to school we had a half of an hour at school to eat our lunch and it wasn’t considered class time. In France they have to report school lunch to the mayor. Another situation they have that is good in France is that they have free healthcare and they eat very healthier food than America. One thing I can say is that Michael Moore stated that France is pooper than America so I don’t see how we are getting treated badly here in America and we work so hard. Sad. So this is a big difference on how they live in France and how we live here in America. Michael Moore did a wonderful job by doing these interviews with different states. I learned alot from his interviews because I never would have thought people from other states is getting treated much better than what we are getting treated here in America. Which I hear when some of my friends or people speak in general how we are so much better than other countries, I just couldn’t imagine that we get treated lesser than any pooper state. Than on top of that our food is less healthier, we don’t deserve this. Hopefully one day we can do better in our country. This is why we live differently in America. In this Short reflection story I will be reflecting on My Life Choice Memoir that I wrote about me and my family called Me and My Family. I got some information from my reflection story and added some of that information on to this reflecting blog. My Life Choice Memoir was about me and my family on how I grew up with my family, something’s we did as we grew up and a few sad events in our life. I worked with my professor and classmates when I composed this memoir. It was peaceful no noise and I had a nice amount of time to start my Memoir. It was nice that everyone in the class was writing they memoir so everyone was on the same page. No one interrupted the class while we were writing, only when our time was up. Yes it was a good approach to write about my family because it give me sometime to vent out the sadness of different situations. We also had a few fun times I spoke about. It also give me time to think back in my life on how I became the person that I am today. As I’m looking back about my life I noticed I learned a lot, I’m a good person and how my family grew up with me.
When I started writing about me and my family in My Life Choice Memoir I started speaking about myself first. I stated that I was spoiled and I was the first grandchild. I had a very fun life as I was growing up. I always liked and played with my youngest uncle toys. I guess because he was just a few years older than me. My mother and father was young when they had me. That’s why all my grandparents was fully involved. My grandparents well my family has done a good job raising me as I was the first grandchild, first niece and first daughter. When I was around six years old that’s when I started having brother’s, a sister and cousin’s. Like I said in My Life Choice Memoir I grew up with my family. I use to babysit my sister, brother’s and cousin’s. I played lots of scary and funny games with them. Until this day they respect me as their oldest cousin and we love each other soooo much. If we have a disagreement and we are upset at each other it won’t last long because we would call each other and say let’s go to dinner or something. Then we talk about it. That’s how we are now and that’s how we were growing up. We was taught to forgive because we been through alot of different stuff as we were growing up and we learned family is important. That’s why I wanted to write a little about me and my family because I love them so much. If you want to read more about me and my family please look at My Life Choice Memoir and it’s called Me and My Family. It’s incidents that I wrote about is very sad. I didn’t do a reflection on that part yet but this is a short reflection story of me and my family. On 12/5/2017 in this short class assignment my Professor Mr. Sabatino Mangini went over a short article called Against Vanity In Praise of Revision by Mary Karr. Professor Mangini told us to read it. He said it's a good article. So I would like to share it with everyone that visits my blog. Here's the link Against Vanity: In Praise of Revision (Mary Karr) and Thank You so much Professor Mangini for all your sharing and caring.
On 11/28/2017 in this short class assignment Professor Sabatino Mangini WENT OVER A LOT OF INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT HOW TO WRITE A RESEARCH PAPER, WAYS TO CITE YOUR PAPER AND A LOT OF OTHER INTERESTING THINGS. HE ALSO SHOWED US ( THE CLASS) TIPS ON HOW TO WRITE A THESIS STATEMENT CORRECTLY. WHICH HE GAVE US A PHRASE TO HELP US CALLED TOPIC POSITION SUPPORT WHICH MEAN: TOPIC= WHAT MY PAPER IS ABOUT, +POSITION= WHAT I WANT TO SAY ABOUT THE TOPIC (OPINION) AND +SUPPORT= WHAT RESEARCHED REASONS I WILL USE TO DEFEND MY POSITION (EVIDENCE). THE LAST THING I'M GOING TO SPEAK ABOUT THAT Professor MANGINI WENT OVER WITH US WAS:
Types of Genres/Subgenres: Creative Nonfiction Memoir Reflective writing Motives: Make meaning Get a good grade in this class Enact writing to travel: past places, past people, and past selves Learn about the narrative mode and its genres Experience the ways narrative writing helps me to make a sense of the world Make connections between material and non material world Examine my life Rhetorical Purposes (PIE): Persuade Inform Entertain Rhetorical Modes (DEAN): Description Exposition Argumentation Narration On 11/14/2017 in this short research assignment of Defining Terms with my class group, we will be defining terms for Democracy, Capitalism, Socialism, Fascism, Social Oppressive “isms” and Social Institutions. I co-authored these definitions with my group members: David Miller, Julia Thornton and Kacie Montano.
Democracy- Everyone equals everyone. People have a say in voting, decisions, and more. The people vote and the majority wins. Capitalism- More wealthy and higher leveled individuals have more control in government and decision making. Socialism- People do not have that much of a say, they vote on congressmen and state elected officials to decide what is best for the state. Fascism- Led by a dictator. One person makes all decisions. A government that has absolute power. They want to eliminate media, and think that violence is necessary. Social oppressive “isms”- When groups of people are pushed and pressed down by society. Some examples are racism, sexism, and sizeism. Social institutions- People that come together from a common belief to try and push their views accepted into society. They try to influence other people’s behaviors and set a certain expectation for them. Some examples are family, church, employment, school, prison systems, and media. In this short research reflection assignment I will be answering some questions about a film called Where to Invade Next, by Michael Moore. I watched this film in class. The film was interesting because Michael Moore went to different countries exploring how others in different countries live. He asked different questions about how long was their paid vacations, about how they pay for their college and a lot of other different things. The film Where to Invade Next had a lot of information about different countries and how they live so much better than America. Also here is some information of My Life Choice Memoir. I will be answering the questions about the film of Where to Invade Next.
I worked with my professor and classmates at school when I started with this research paper. First me, my classmates and Professor watched the film of Where to Invade Next. Then we started writing the research papers at home about the film. Yes it a good approach because after we watched the film we had questions about the film and our Professor was there to answer them and of course he knew all about the film.
The genre mode I'm using is Reflective Writing and exposition mode.
I started to write this project at home. Yes it was a good approach because I was very peaceful and on my own time.
I was told by my Professor to write about this chosen topic. Yes it was a good choice to write about this topic of the film Where to Invade Next because it showed how Americans are living differently from other countries and hopefully from the showing of this film can help make a lot of better changes in America.
Yes I have a lot of “if only’s” but i’m going to mention only two. That “if only” is if all the schools is good ratings and it’s free.
I will revise my argument by stating that Americans should have the right to live better like the other countries because the adults and children work hard in this country whether it’s going to school working or raising a family. The government should have incentives and more resources for us US citizens. In this short Annotated Bibliography I added two sources from two articles. One article is about Childhood Obesity and Schools and the second article is about INTENSIVE LEARNING WITH A HEALTHY DOSE OF SUMMERTIME FUN.
Topic: Obesity in Children at Public Schools Research Question: Which of the Children in Private Schools or Public Schools is most likely to be Obese? Argument: Children in Public Schools are most likely to be Obese because of the “eligibility for free or reduced lunch”. Topic: Extended School Year Program of HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy in Philadelphia Pa. Research: Should the School be Extended for Children with Cerebral Palsy? Argument: Yes the Schools should be Extended for Children with Cerebral Palsy because it "helps the Children be Independent and more Sociable". In this short research assignment of Defining Terms with my class group, we will be defining terms for Democracy, Capitalism, Socialism, Fascism, Social Oppressive “isms” and Social Institutions. I co-authored these definitions with my group members: David Miller, Julia Thornton and Kacie Montano.

I'm going to write a short annotated bibliography of at least four sources about Where to InvadeNext by Michael Moore 2015 .
